Richard G. Beery, Ph.D. is a California Licensed Psychologist (PSY 3887) with over 30 years of postdoctoral professional experience. In addition to his general practice of personal counseling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples, Dr. Beery specializes in career counseling, testing and coaching.

After earning his Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1966, he was awarded a two-year postdoctoral fellowship by the National Institute of Mental Health for study and research in clinical psychology, biofeedback, and behavior modification. He moved to California in 1968, for a year-long postdoctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital.

From 1969 to 1987, Dr. Beery was a Counseling Psychologist on the staff at the University of California (Berkeley) Counseling Center, serving as administrator of their public career counseling program for six of those 18 years. While at U.C. Berkeley, he also taught courses in career development and testing for graduate students in the Department of Counseling Psychology and designed training and supervision programs for Counseling Center interns and professional staff.

Dr. Beery has maintained a private practice in Berkeley since 1973, doing career counseling and testing, psychotherapy, and training and supervision of other professional psychologists. He has been widely quoted regarding career issues among students and mid-career professionals in national publications, including Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal and U.S. News and World Report.
